LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Playa Herradura

RECOMMENDED AIRPORT
Playa Herradura is a coastal town on the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica, located about 4km/2.5mi north of Jacó and about 50km/31mi west of San Jose. The town is a very popular tourist destination both among foreigners and locals due to its beautiful beaches. Diving near Playa Herradura offers many unique opportunities. The water visibility ranges from10ft (3m) to 45ft (14m) and it depends on many factors like tides and mostly the high amounts of plankton in these waters that attract many species of fish. The best conditions for diving are from December through May when the visibility is the best and the giant manta rays come to feed. Due to the historical volcanic activity, the underwater landscape consists of volcanic rock formations, nursing different species of soft and hard coral. There are a lot of interesting caves, cliffs and crevasses under water. Whitetip reef sharks live in these caves. Their depths range from 40ft/12m to 90ft/27m.
