LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Montezuma

The town of Montezuma is located near the southern tip of the Nicoya peninsula, on the North Pacific coast of Costa Rica. This small picturesque town gained in popularity starting 1980s. It is famous for its clear waters and beautiful beaches. A wide diversity of Montezuma marine life is the main reason that attracts divers of all experience levels. The underwater landscape includes mainly canyons, crevasses and caves. The sea temperature is perfect for diving all year round. Different schools of fish, turtles and even whales can be spotted here. Tourists coming to Costa Rica must visit Romelia Wildlife Refuge and Curu National Wildlife Refuge located near Montezuma. These places are government protected nature reserves and have an enormous biodiversity. Montezuma has quite a few interesting locations for wreck diving.
Some of the best dive sites here are Cocalito, Las Manchas, Caroline Star Wreck and El Bajo. There are more great dive sites located near Togtuga Islands and in Bellena Bay. Sea life is abundant and in addition to large schools of tropical fish divers can encounter whales, dolphins, whale sharks, octopus, sea turtles and a few species of sea horses.
