All about Bartolome dive site
Bartolomé delivers that iconic Galápagos contrast: sculpted lava above and a surprisingly animated nearshore world below. It’s often a lighter-feeling dive than the far-northern walls, with moments that reward patience and a slow look into the rocks
What to see
Galápagos penguins are a celebrated possibility in these waters, with green sea turtles commonly seen cruising the rocky edges. Whitetip reef sharks and rays are often mentioned for the area, alongside busy schools of reef fish moving over volcanic rubble
When To Go Diving
December to May usually brings warmer water and calmer seas around the central islands, while June to November is cooler and can be more surge-prone. In the cooler season, water is often around 18–23°C here, and visibility can shrink noticeably during plankton-rich periods. The warmer months tend to feel more comfortable and are often preferred when steadier visibility is the goal
