Wreck
USS Vandenberg, off Key West, is one of Florida’s signature artificial reefs, with a large ship profile, open deck areas, and a powerful sense of scale. It is better suited to experienced divers, especially when current is running.
What to see
Large wreck structure, radar dishes, deck features, barracuda, jacks, snappers, groupers, sponges, soft corals, turtles, and occasional reef sharks may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from May to October for warm water and often strong visibility, though it can be dived year-round in suitable weather. Water can range from about 20°C in winter to 30°C in summer, with visibility often around 10–30 metres.
