The Elbow
Elbow Reef is located in Key Largo, Florida and is presented by the exclusive marine life and several wrecks. Diving in Elbow Reef let divers to explore fascinating coral reef with crevices, ledges and caverns. Scuba-diving in this dive site is very interesting near the so called Nelson's Ledge, which is on the deepest depth and hosts numerous marine species. Among the ship remains divers can find Mike's Wreck, the Civil War Wreck and an anchor chain with concrete parts of a former cargo vessel. Elbow Reef dive site is great for underwater photography.
When To Go Diving
Key Largo, Florida has a tropical climate. Diving in Elbow Reef is advisable from May to October. Approximate air temperatures in that period are 30-32C/86-89F and water temperatures are 28-30C/82-86F. The warm and dry season runs from November to April with the average air and water temperatures of 15-17C/59-62F.
What to see
Diving in Elbow Reef offer excellent opportunities to watch turtles, snappers, angelfish, butterfly fish, damselfish, shrimps, oysters and moray eels. Divers can also explore various coral types, gorgonians and sponges.
