Coral Gardens is a beautiful natural reef formation full of coral-encrusted caves and passageways, situated on on the West-side of Maui. The site provides massive colorful coral heads of several different varieties, interesting lava formations and hundreds of Hawaiian fish species. The site is mostly protected from the strong afternoon Maui winds, which makes it a great location for experienced snorkelers, but can also be a good spot for novice divers.

When To Go Diving

Scuba diving is available year round. The average water temperature throughout the year varies from 23C/73F to 28C/82F.

What to see

Among overhangs and ledges green sea turtles can be seen swimming together with schools of jacks, parrotfish, angelfish, triggerfish and butterfly fish. The site offers a canopy of hard coral with numerous nooks and crannies, which serve as great hiding places for such species as crabs, octopi, eels and shrimp. Humpback whales can be spotted from December to April.
