King’s Spring is the most popular dive among Crystal River springs, Florida. The large amount of manatees in winter is dive site’s peculiarity. However, to protect the population of manatees, diving with them is controlled by the authorities. Diving in King’s Spring is represented by exploring caves and caverns. The caverns meet divers with large openings, light and warm water, which makes diving in King’s Spring very pleasant and comfortable. Divers can admire the underwater life around the cave and marine creatures inside it.
 

When To Go Diving

The best period for diving in King’s Spring is from May to September with average air temperatures of 28-30C/82-86F and water temperatures of 26-28C/78-82F. The cold season lasts from December to February and is characterized by average air temperatures of 15-17C/59-62F. Water averages are approximately 14-16C/57-60F.

What to see

Scuba-diving in the site is popular due to diversity of its marine life. Local underwater species include redfish, spotted seatrout, pigfish, pinfish, batfish, crabs and shrimps. But the biggest attraction is manatees in winter.
