LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Cockburn Town

RECOMMENDED AIRPORT
Cockburn Town is located on the 10km/6mi long Grand Turk Island. The major streets of Duke and Front have landmarks, the Turks and Caicos National Museum, which houses the oldest European shipwreck, the Molasses Reef Wreck. The main attraction is diving, and with the many dive operators and schools, there is something for all levels, from novice snorkelers to experienced divers. Sea turtles, seahorses, Nassau groupers, eels, and eagle and sting rays can be spotted here. Whales, including the humpback, visit these waters during the wintertime. Dive sites are located on the west side of the coast, the most interesting of which are Black Forest, the Anchor, Coral Gardens, the Tunnels, and Coral Canyon. Coral Gardens is characterized by a reef, whose top is at around 10m/32ft deep. The reef is covered with a large variety of corals, which attract a lot of fish, such as angelfish, Nassau groupers, parrotfish, schools of barracudas, shrimp, and octopi. This is an excellent site for photographers and night dives (max. depth of 18m/59ft). Visibility is excellent (about 30m/100ft).
