LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Balfour Town

Balfour Town is a the district capital of Salt Cay, located on the west coast. This area is great for diving and humpback whale watching (generally from January to March). Sea life is vibrant, with sharks, eagle rays, hawksbill turtles, schools of blue tangs, Bermuda chubs, ocean triggers, goatfish, grunts, and undamaged coral formations. Among the dive sites here are Northwest Drop-Off, Rookery, Black Coral Canyon (a gorge carved into the face of the wall, with abundant black corals, yellow tube sponges, and rope sponges). At the Rookery site, divers can see deepwater gorgonians, sand bowls, Nassau and tiger groupers, and nurse sharks (depth ranges from 12-40m/40-130ft). Currents are light and visibility is usually excellent at 30m/100ft or more.
