LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Koh Phi Phi Don
Ko Phi Phi Don is the largest of the Phi Phi Islands, in Thailand and a part of Krabi province. It is the only island in the group with permanent residents. The closest airport is Krabi, from where you got to get to Mu Ban Nongnut Bay (15 km/9.3mi) and take a ferry to Koh Phi Phi. Ko Phi Phi Don is a non-volcanic island largely made of limestone. It is almost separated in two islands, but a strand of flat land connects the two parts. On this strand lies the largest town on the island, as well as most of the resorts. Even though the island was badly struck by a tsunami in 2004, the dive sites were almost unaffected.
Bida Nai and Bida Nok are the sites that should't be missed while diving here. Also one of the best dive sites is Hin Dot (max depth 20m/65ft). It consists of 3 superb submerged pinnacles which are covered with hard and soft corals. Currents can sometimes be strong and the dive site is more suitable for advanced divers. Another good dive site for divers of all levels, recommended for night diving as well as a good starting ground for beginners, is Lohsamah Bay. There are other must see dive sites in this area suitable for those who prefer to go scuba diving further on a day trip, these are Hin Duang, Hin Muang, Hin Bida/Phi Phi Shark Point, Anemone Reef, Shark point, and King Cruiser wreck.
