How to get to the Koh Phangan
Koh Phangan is an island in the Gulf of Thailand, which is located in southeast Thailand in Surat Thani Province. The closest airport is Samui Airport that is located on the nearby island. Koh Phangan is part of the Samui Archipelago and is famous for its Full Moon party at Haad Rin Beach. Also it is known as a land of coconut trees. Koh Phangan has two neighboring islands: the larger Koh Samui to the south and the smaller Koh Tao to the north. Koh Phangan has a large range of lovely sites around the island which are perfect for both novice and experienced divers and offer rarer creatures such as turtles or sea snakes. Diving here can be done by boat or from shore.
The best dive sites are Sail Rock, Angthong Marine Park with its great Hin Yippon dive site, Koh Ma, Southwest Pinnacles, and Samran Pinnacle. Sail Rock is the most famous dive site in the Gulf of Thailand. It is located between Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. The maximum depth is 40m/131ft. This spectacular rock rises out of the water creating the best wall dive. Colorful cup corals, giant black corals, scorpionfish, jacks, queenfish, barracudas, and golden morays can be found here. Reef sharks and whale sharks can sometimes be seen around the rock too.
