L'Escala

L'Escala is a small holiday resort located on the Costa Brava, between the southern end of the Gulf of Roses and Cala Montgó (Bay).Girona Airport is located in 55 km from it. L'Escala has an important fishing port, beautiful beaches (near the Bay of Roses and town of Riells), natural parks, historic and art monuments, and the ancient ruins of Empuries, and it has a festival dedicated to its famous anchovies. Snorkeling and diving are also popular here, and there are several diving centers. L'Escala has superb scuba diving along the coast and at the Medes Islands Marine Reserve. This area has a bustling quantity of marine life. Divers here will be awed by the caves, walls, reefs, wrecks, and tunnels.  

Most popular dive sites

This area offers a great variety of dive sites for all level experience. The must see sites include Marmoler/ Avvenire Wreck, Illa de Massa d’Or, Cala Viuda, El Gat and Saint Prosper. Nearby there are also some worth visiting sites, such as Dolphin's Cave, Pedra de Deu, Carall Bernat.
