How to get to the Gansbaai
Recently Gansbaai (Gans Bay) became one of the favorite tourist destinations in South Africa due to its unspoiled natural beauty. It used to be a fishing town, although the coastal line, which stretches for miles and is washed by crystal-clear waters, made this place a hot-spot for travelers. One should not miss guided botanical strolls to admire the pristine beauty of local fynbos. Another interesting place is the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, where visitors can explore numerous cliff caves and mountain paths all vacation long. The most popular sites, though, are Dyer Island, Geyser Rock and the channel between them, which is known as Shark Alley. The peculiarity of the destination is an immense concentration of whales and white sharks. Divers from all over the world come to this place to get a unique opportunity of white-shark cage diving. Diving in the area is an extremely popular activity as it involves all the adrenaline in divers’ veins. The observation of the underwater caves and rocks is overshadowed by a spectacular view of dozens of white-tip sharks. Divers need to take their cameras to shoot all the spectacular moments during scuba-diving around Gansbaai. Depth range is from 2m/6ft to 30m/98ft. Dive sites are accessible from boat and suitable for divers of different levels. The best sites for diving are Great White Shark Cage Dive Site/Shark Alley and Kopsteen Reef.
