How to get to the Durban

Durban is a bustling city with excellent restaurants, museums, theatres and is the second most important manufacturing hub in South Africa after Johannesburg. It is the largest city in the South Africa and a province of KwaZulu-Natal. Durban is famous for being the busiest port in Africa. It is also one of the major centers of tourism because of warm subtropical climate and great beaches. There are a lot of dive sites at the north and south of the city, which are suitable for divers of all levels of experience. The most popular of them are Blood Reef (10-23m/33-75ft depth), Fontao Wreck (25-30m/82-98ft depth), T-Barge (20-30m/66-98ft depth), Reef Number One (25-30m/82-98ft depth) and Ovington Court Wreck (8m/26ft depth). Blood Reef offers Durban’s best examples of local marine life and features many swimthroughs, caves and potholes. The ocean floor is covered with colorful soft corals, sponges and purple seaweeds. Divers have a chance to observe turtles, eels, frogfish, paperfish, pineapplefish, catfish, nudibranch, crayfish, lionfish and many passing pelagics. A nice shore dive in Durban is Vetchies Pier (5-7m/16-23ft depth). It is an artificial reef, which was created some 80 years ago and is home to a wide variety of corals and fish.
