Scuba diving in Diamond Rock


Diamond Rock, known as Le Rocher du Diamant, is considered to be one of the most beautiful dive sites in Martinique. This immense volcanic rock towers over 175m/574ft high and stands about 5km/3mi from the coast. Diving at this site is available for all divers. The site consists of drop-offs, shallow reef flats and rocky canyons. The diversity and abundance of marine life here includes a lot of different tropical reef fish, turtles, moray eels, Spanish mackerels, and lots of crustaceans (crawfish, shrimp, and crabs) hidden in the crevices. The flora are also very diverse: gorgonian fans, soft corals, sponges, and anemones.
When to go
Scuba diving is available all year round. Average air temperatures range from 22-30C/72-86F. The water temperature averages 29C/84F in summer and 26C/79F in winter. The depth of the site is more than 40m/131ft. Average visibility is 10-30m/32-98ft.
