Faja Grande is the westernmost civil parish in the municipality of Lajes das Flores on the Portuguese archipelago of the Azores. The closest airport is Santa Cruz that is located in 21 km.
The area between Fajã Grande and Fajãzinha is one of the most beautiful coastlines of the Azores. Through the long green wall that borders this area, run nearly 20 beautiful waterfalls, including the 300m high Ribeira Grande. Pristine waters are teeming with a wide variety of marine life. Barracuda, grouper, octopus, lobsters, sea urchins, sea stars, manta and eagle rays, tuna and other pelagic species can be seen in this area. The nearest dive sites, featuring rock formations, including caves and crevices, include Ilhéu de Monchique (max depth 43m/141ft), Papa-diamandis (max depth 36m/118ft) and Eagle's Paradise (max depth 75m/246ft). The visibility is good, over 30m/98ft, being its best during summer.
