Pico, in the Azores, offers volcanic island diving with clear water, rocky reefs, offshore seamount potential, and a strong pelagic atmosphere. It has a wilder Atlantic character than mainland coastal sites.
What to see
Mobula rays in the wider Azores region, blue sharks offshore, jacks, barracuda, groupers, moray eels, wrasse, octopus, and volcanic reef life may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from June to October, with late summer often bringing the warmest water, around 20–24°C. Visibility can be excellent, especially offshore.
