LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Donsol

RECOMMENDED AIRPORT
Donsol is located in the province of Sorsogon. It is known for its wreck sites that are great for technical divers. Donsol is also called the “Whale Shark Capital” and is actually the best place in the world to swim with whale sharks. Divers get a chance to encounter some really large members of this species, sometimes reaching up to 18m/59ft long. Whale sharks can be found on the eastern side where divers can also enjoy a great view of Mayon volcano. On the South is Bulan in the Ticao Pass where divers can dive in the Manta Bowl and see manta rays. Manta rays are harmless unlike sting rays which are from the same family but have a barbed stinger on their tail. Another interesting diving area is San Miguel Island which has many beautiful dive sites. It features numerous caves that shelter many kinds of sea life. This island is famous for its untouched corals and rich macro life. This is a good place for underwater photographers. There are some other good dives off Sorsogon. Located on the western side of Ticao, St. Jerome's Rock is one such location. The Abyss, a series of deep walls close to St Jerome's Rock, is another one, but it is suggested for the use by experienced divers only.
