LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Ponta do Ouro

Ponta do Ouro is a popular destination in southern Maputo province, located just 10 km from the South African border. The closest international airport is Maputo that is located in 165 km. Scuba diving is a unique experience in this spot. The coral life on most of its reefs is unspoilt and consists of hard and soft corals. There is a wide range of marine species including whales, dolphins, sharks, kingfish, different species of rays, angler fish, eels, pipe fish, turtles, game fish, rare nudibranchs and others. There are lots of dive sites ranging from 9- 46m/29-150ft suited for all types of diving experience. The best dive sites include Doodles, Pinnacles, Atlantis, Three Sisters, Rhianna’ arch and Pinnacles. Pinnacles is a world renowned shark diving site, where up to 10 species of shark can be seen including Tiger, Bull, Black tip, Silver tip, Dusky, Spinners, Java, Leopard, Grey reef and gracious Hammerheads. The maximum depth of this site is around 35m/114ft. Three Sisters is a popular site due to its amazing high wall topography (depth 24m/ft78ft). Here the Potato Bass, (unique to this site only), Garden Eels, Angler fish, Long Nose Hawkfish, Crocodile fish, a massive Honeycomb Eel as well as many different types of Nudibranchs can be observed, making this dive a dream for underwater photographers. The visibility ranges between 20-35m/65-114ft.
