Diving in Blue Bay
When to go to Blue Bay
Diving here is suitable throughout the year. But the best time to travel is the period from mid-October to mid-May, when the air temperature reaches 30C/86F. Less favorable period is from December to March when cyclones are possible. Water temperature stays around 22-27C/71-80F.
What to see
Almost all the representatives of the underwater world of the region can be found here: huge coral heads, eagle rays, large sea turtles, tuna, grouper, parrot fish, white tip and black tip reef sharks, king fish, barracuda, eels, snapper, and a multitude of tropical fish.
The most popular and must-see dive sites are Roche Zozo, Blue Bay. Also there are some interesting seascapes, rocky peaks, canyons and tunnels at Canyon Colorado and Grotte Langouste site. There are also some interesting shipwrecks nearby, so the dive centers can show wrecks to qualified deep divers.
Scuba diving in Blue Bay
Blue Bay is located on the Southeastern coast of the Mauritius. SSR International Airport is located in 10 km from it. Blue Bay bay is one of the most beautiful lagoons in the Indian Ocean. It features white sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise waters and coral reefs with elaborate shapes. Blue Bay is a great place to enjoy a variety of marine life as well as diving, sailing on glass-bottom boats, snorkeling and "dive safaris" to the surrounding islands. The conditions are excellent for those who are just starting to dive, because the average depth of the amazingly beautiful Blue Bay lagoon is only 6-10m/19-32ft. The Blue Bay dive site is especially recommended for those who are interested in underwater life.
