Scuba diving in Belle Mare is great all year round, though December to March is considered to be the less favorable period due to the cyclones in that time. Summer in Belle Mare lasts from October to April with air temperatures of 25-32C/77-89F, and with water temperatures of 22-28C/71-82F, and winter, from May to October, with the average air temperature staying around 17-23C/62-73F. Currents can be strong (up to 2 knots) and usually attract big schools of fish.

Worth visiting dive sites include La Passe Belle Mare, Sea Fan Valley, and Château. The average depth of La Passe De Bella Mare, Sea Fan Valley and Passe de Trou d’Eau Douce sites ranges from 12-30m/39-98ft. A huge variety of giant sea fans can be seen here growing amongst the coral along the cliff face.
