When to go to Sliema

Scuba diving in Sliema is available year round. The rainy monsoon season is between October and March.

The high season is from April to October. The average air temperature is 10-15C/50-59F in the winter and 21-30C/70-83F in the summer. The average water temperature is about 15-17C/59-63F from December through April and 18-26C/65-78F from May through November. Water visibility averaging more than 30m/100ft. The currents may vary, but generally are low.

 

What to see

Divers can find some beautiful corals, tuna, jacks, barracuda, john dory, octopus, moray eels, seahorses, fire worms, to name but a few.

Scuba diving in Sliema

Sliema is a town situated on the northeast coast of Malta. Malta International Airport is located in 10 km from it. Sliema and the coastline up to neighboring St. Julian's are the most contemporary and most built-up areas in Malta. These are centers for hotels, shopping, rental apartments, and café life. There are also lots of Catholic churches, and the biggest draw out of these is the Stella Maris Church, which dates from 1878. Diving here is excellent, as the area offers crystal-clear waters, rocky reef dives, cave dives and some wreck diving with a diverse marine life. Diving here is available for divers of all levels.
