When to go to Maafushi Island
It is possible to dive at Maafushi all year round, but the sea conditions are better from January through May. The rainy season starts in June and lasts to November. The average air temperature is 29-30C-84-86F, while the water is often around 26-28C/79-82F. The current ranges from light to moderate. What to see Maafushi serves as a shelter for various types of reef sharks, hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, barracudas, giant tuna, manta rays, and Napoleon wrasses. The smaller species are Moorish idols, sailfish, octopi, nudibranchs, and squirrelfish. The colorful reef is ornate with staghorn and table corals, purple fans, and gorgonians.
