The Semporna Island Park, also known as Tun Sakaran Marine Park, is located off the east coast of Sabah and consists of dozens of reefs and islands separating the Celebes Sea from the Sulu Sea to the north. The closest airport is Tawau which is located 105km/65 mi from Semporna. The closest international airport from which you can get to Tawau is Kuala Lumpur. The park is renowned by divers for the diversity of marine life. Popular among diverse islands of Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking, Boheyan, and Mantabuan lie within a proximity from Semporna and are definitely worth visiting. The diverse dive spots of the area offer drop-offs, slopes, and plateaus in depths ranging from 2 m/6 ft to 60m/196ft with sometimes swift currents and visibility between 10m/32ft and 40m/131ft. Some of the worth-visiting dive sites are Barracuda Point, Turtle Cavern, South Point, and Drop Off.
