Pulau Perhentian Kecil is one of The Perhentian Islands situated off the coast of northeastern Malaysia. The Perhentians belong to Pulau Redang National Marine Park, which means that such activities as fishing, collecting coral and littering are strictly prohibited. Smaller and slightly rowdier of the two Perhentian Islands, Perhentian Kecil is a place to come for excellent diving experience. Tourists may expect to find warm turquoise waters with lots of marine life, including marble groupers, pipefish, barracudas, nudibranch, shrimps and other species. Among most interesting dive sites are Sugar Wreck, Pasir Tani wreck, Vietnamese Wreck, Sea Bell Rock and Kerma Laut (where the rock formations offer a wide range of nudibranchs for macro diving enthusiasts). Sugar Wreck is a sunken freighter, resting 18m/59ft below the surface. It's an easy wreck that allows easy penetration in the cargo section. For experienced divers, penetration is also possible in the engine room, wheelhouse and cabins. Large schools of snappers, jacks and trevally circle the hulk and myriad smaller fish shelter inside the wreck. Many scorpion fish can be found In its walls and the deck. Bamboo sharks and blue spotted sting rays can be seen underneath the cargo doors, located in the back side of the wreck. Visibility varies from 5m/16ft to 30m/98ft.
