LIVEABOARD DIVING IN Makassar

Makassar Liveaboards
RECOMMENDED AIRPORT
Makassar, Indonesia is an excellent base for trips to the group of small islands and atolls that make up the Spermonde Archipelago. Some of the islands are densely populated, but some are still uninhabited. The best place for diving on Makassar are Samalona and Kodengareng Keke. Samalona's oval shaped area is about 300 x 600m, so it takes only a short stroll to see its entire coastline. Beautiful coral reefs are easily accessible from the shore of Samalona. Diving is the best on the west and south sides of the island, where divers get a chance to see a good mix of hard and soft corals. The incredible bio-diversity of the area offers excellent opportunities for macro photographers. Batfish, lionfish, scorpionfish, stonefish, mandarinfish, bleuspotted stingrays, lobster, nudibranches, turtle, cuttlefish, pleurobranchus, trevallies, flatworms and anemones are easy to spot. Kodengareng Keke is a Dolphin Resort. Though the building of the resort is not yet completed, it is ready to receive guests who are satisfied with basic facilities. Apart from the wrecks, the island offers some nice coral gardens, between 15m/49ft and 28m/91ft deep.
