Nananu-i-Ra, meaning 'dreamland of the west', is a a tiny island located about 4km off the northern tip of Viti Levu. It is a place for those who are looking for a remote and relatively untouched retreat. The island is renowned for its water sports opportunities: divers, windsurfers and snorkelers will be rewarded with myriad of unexplored coves, quiet bays and reef systems to discover. The reefs in the surrounding Bligh Waters are some of the healthiest in the world. Divers can see an array of tropical marine life including anemone fish, rays, turtles, anthias, blue ribbon eels, clown triggers, lionfish, leaf scorpions, reef sharks and many more species. Divers will also be pleasantly surprised by the abundance of various hard and soft corals, coral trees and rock formations covered with intricate coral growth. An array of incredible dive sites (coral walls, deep swim throughs, reefs, numerous bommies) suitable for all levels of divers are available within about 30min boat ride from the island. The average depth of these sites stays around 20m/65ft. Some of the closest are Amazing Maze, Golden Dream, Breath Taker, Bula Maker and The Pinnacles. One of the most famous sites around is Golden Dream. The site lies at the depth of 20m/65ft, the walls and roofs of its tunnels are covered with beautiful yellow soft corals. Coming here divers can spot barracudas, Spanish mackerel, octopus and stingrays.
