How to get to the Boca Chica

Boca Chica is located on the South Coast of the Dominican Republic and has evolved from a fishing village into a diving paradise. Diving here is ideal for all, from the absolute beginner to the expert or professional. Coral gardens with sergeantfish, reefs with manta rays, 105ft/32m-deep canyons and national parks define diving at this destination. The reef here is longer than 1640ft/500m and forms a barrier to a sheltered bay, creating the largest ‘pool’ in the world. La Caleta National Submarine Park is striking for its two shipwrecks, teeming with marine life. Another attractive spot is Catalina Island, which is a habitat for large mantas and surgeonfish. Experienced divers can enjoy not only saltwater, but also freshwater cave diving at Cueva Taína, where even sea turtles can be seen. Other interesting dive sites include the Wessel Reef, Angels Ravine and Limón. Bocha Chica hosts such species as lionfish, dragonfish, dogfish and many more. Some dive centers offer an activity involving feeding fish with bananas, while others are ready to provide night diving opportunities for adventurers.
