Pula has a three-thousand year old history and offers a diversity of attractions to lovers of culture. There are numerous monuments to Roman architecture: the remarkably well-preserved Roman amphitheater Arena in the center, the Triumphal Arch of the Sergi from the first century B.C., the Temple of Augustus, Hercules’ Gate and Twin Gates and some ancient churches. A great town's features are also the Kamenjak Cape, a Brijuni national park, beautiful surrounding countrysides, and nice beaches (some of the best near resort area Punta Verudela and Medulin) with a crystal-clear sea.Scuba diving is well-developed in Pula, due to the richly indented coast, rich flora and fauna, as well as to the tunnels, caves, remains of sunken ships.
