LIVEABOARD DIVING IN North Sound

The North Sound is on the Northern end of Virgin Gorda and is a large bay that is well protected by this island as well as the surrounding islands and reefs. The North Sound has a wide variety of anchorages, great beaches and offers an array of water sports including scuba diving and snorkeling. The nearest dive sites are the Garry’s Grotto, which is a shallow dive with lots of fish, located near Saddle Bay; and the Mountain Point, located to the northeast of Mahoe Bay and Mango Bay in the lee of Virgin Gorda peak, with maximum depth of 21m/70ft. Mountain Point has 3 good dive sites. They are Cowsmouth, Big Grotto and Little Grotto. Crowsmouth features a nice sloping reef with eagle rays and stingrays hiding in the sand, creole wrasse, shrimps, arrow crabs and lots of swim throughs and grottos to explore. At Little Grotto schools of yellowtail snapper and sea turtles can be met. The dive ends in a small cave-like passage way, offering divers a chance to see some of the many rare nudibranches. Visibility is good, 10-30m/32-98ft, the depth of the site ranges between 4-10m/15-35ft.
