Scuba diving in Belle Vue
Belle Vue is a place with a very small population, located on Jost Van Dyke island. Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in St. Thomas is the closest major airport to Jost Van Dyke. From the airport you must get to Red Hook (about 30 minutes by taxi) and then take a boat to Jost Van Dyke (about 1.5 hours).
Scuba diving is one of the most popular activities in this area. Close to Bellevue, the major attractions include fine white sand beaches and turquoise waters that are found at White Bay and Great Harbour, which are also great for snorkeling. Here divers can observe some remarkable coral reefs populated with an amazing sea life. Among the marine species in the area divers can spot dolphins, sea turtles, manta rays, lobsters, crabs and a wide variety of colorful reef fish. Within 6 miles of Great Harbor, there are over 40 dive sites that have been marked and placed under protection. Wonderful caves, drop offs, deep open ocean dives and coral gardens with an abundance of sea life is just a small portion of what divers can expect to find when they come here. The most popular dive sites are The Cathedral, Rocks and Beans, Stoney Bay and Sandy Cay. Diamond Cay is considered the best reef. The Cathedral is also the favorite dive among locals, full of beautiful corals and colorful fish. Visibility here ranges from 10m/32ft to 30m/98ft, maximum depth is around 15m/50ft.
