Protecting reefs by ensuring environmentally friendly diving and snorkeling practices together with Green Fins. This mutually beneficial partnership aims at driving sustainable value chains through uptake of the Green Fins Code of Conduct and messaging.
Green Fins’ Mission:
“To protect and conserve coral reefs by establishing and implementing environmentally friendly guidelines to promote a sustainable diving and snorkeling tourism industry.”
Our long-term vision is to make sustainable diving the social norm = REDUCED LOCAL THREATS TO CORAL REEFS leaving them with a better chance to survive the growing global threats.
Green Fins is coordinated internationally by The Reef-World Foundation in partnership with the UN Environment. The Green Fins approach encompasses three main aspects:
- An environmental code of conduct for diving and snorkeling activities, with a robust assessment system to measure compliance and provide certification
- Supporting in the development or strengthening of relevant regulatory frameworks
- Strategic outreach to and capacity building among diving and snorkeling centres, as well as governmental agencies
