All about Bar Reef dive site
Bar Reef, off Kalpitiya, is one of Sri Lanka’s important northwest reef systems, with coral habitat and warm shallow water. It has strong ecological value, even though visibility and conditions can vary with season and weather.
What to see
Hard corals, reef fish, snappers, parrotfish, rays, moray eels, nudibranchs, lobsters, and schooling fish may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from November to April, when the northwest coast is generally calmer. Water is usually around 27–30°C, with visibility depending on wind and plankton.
