Baia da Cal
Baia da Cal site is located to the south from Horta Bay, Faial island. Baia da Cal is situated in a protected area near the Monte da Guia. The seabed is flat with tuff rocks. The maximum diving depth is around 40m/120ft. The average visibility is 10-20m. Currents are medium (1-2 knots). The abundant marine life is worth seeing and includes damselfish, salema, groupers and parrot fish. Reaching the bottom divers can meet morays and lobsters.
When To Go Diving
The high season to visit this site is July through September when the air temperature is 27C/81F and the water temperature reaches 22C/72F degrees thanks to the warm waters of Gulf stream.
