All about 4 Hermanos dive site
Four small islets off Isabela create a rugged, current-washed playground where the water moves with purpose around rock and ledge. The atmosphere is wilder than polished—more basalt texture, surge, and the possibility of big shapes cruising past
What to see
Cuatro Hermanos is frequently associated with larger life, including hammerhead sharks, manta rays, and sea turtles, with sea lions also commonly mentioned around the rocks. Because conditions can change quickly, sightings tend to be described as “possible” rather than promised, but the mix of currents is repeatedly cited as the reason this area draws pelagic visitors
When To Go Diving
The western side of the archipelago is influenced by cooler upwelling; cold water is brought to the western islands, and traveller-focused resources commonly describe cooler conditions in the mid-year season. Across the Galápagos, water temperature is often summarized around 16–28°C overall, depending on season and site. Visibility is commonly variable; many summaries place it around 10–25 m region-wide. For cooler, nutrient-rich conditions, June to November is typically highlighted; for warmer water, December to May
