Norman Reef is located off Cairns in Australia and attracts divers with its few caves and interesting swim-throughs. This dive site features a healthy reef covered by staghorn and soft corals and sea fans, while large bommies are scattered all over, sheltering tiny crustaceans and nudibranchs.

When To Go Diving

It is possible to dive at Norman Reef year-round, but the best visibility is in June and from September to November. The average water temperature is 25-30C/77-86F. The wet season lasts from November to March.

What to see

Norman Reef is home for sea turtles, blue-spotted rays, moray eels, giant clams, and spangled emperors. Other species here include red bass, angelfish, drummers, batfish, cuttlefish, and wrasses.
