Julian Rocks-Hugo’s Trench is located within the Cape Byron Marine Park in Australia and serves as a very interesting dive site. It features a trench that cuts into the island and creates curious bottom contours. This canyon gets narrower the farther in divers go, but there are many crevices in the rock large enough for them to pass.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at Julian Rocks-Hugo’s Trench throughout the year. There are better temperatures and less rain from September to January. The average water temperature is 26C/79F. It is possible to hear the songs of migrating humpback whales from May to September.
What to see
Julian Rocks-Hugo’s Trench is home to many colorful nudibranchs, jewfish, trevallies, kingfish, and cod. Other exciting species include sea turtles, nurse sharks, and wobbegongs.
