Fotteyo Kandu (Maldives) is a North facing narrow channel that features swim-throughs and large overhangs, as well as several nice caves located between 25-40m depth near the entrance of the channel and covered with soft corals. It is best to start this dive at the outer corner of channel at about 22m/72ft depth. This place is a Mecca for marine biologists and a paradise for photographers.

When To Go Diving

Scuba diving is available all year long, with the average water temperature varying from 26C/78F to 29C/84F. High season for diving is between December and May.

What to see

Vast array of marine life that can be found here, as well as a wide variety of colorful soft and hard corals make this dive unforgettable. If diving early in the morning, divers have a chance to see hammerhead sharks, eagle rays (on the outer side of the channel), titan triggerfish (many of them inside the channel), potato groupers, grey reef sharks, schools of white trevally, tuna, barracuda, surgeon fish, swordfish, as well as turtles and some other creatures. At the end of the day it is sometimes possible to encounter a group of about 50 dolphins drifting down the channel.
