North Channel
The North Channel dive site is located to the northeast of Rasdhoo Atoll (Maldives), and because it is the relatively narrow ‘gate’ to the atoll’s lagoon, the North Channel brings a lot of food that comes with the water from the ocean. It is no wonder that this dive site became home to a large variety of schooling fish, which in turn has become a natural focus for bigger pelagic fish. That is why divers will have good chances to see an amazing variety of pelagic species, as well as smaller species like nudibranchs, anemones, and shrimp.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive at the North Channel all year round. However, the best time to visit this dive site is from December to May, when the seas are calmer and there is less rain. The water temperature averages 26-29C/79-84F throughout the year.
What to see
When diving in the North Channel, divers have very good chances to see a variety of pelagic fish, including eagle rays, grouper, barracudas, big tuna, and sharks.
