Sombrero Reef, off Marathon, is a classic Middle Keys reef with a lighthouse landmark above water and shallow coral structure below. It has a bright, accessible profile for reef diving and snorkelling.
What to see
Coral heads, sea fans, sponges, parrotfish, angelfish, grunts, snappers, barracuda, rays, turtles, and lobsters may be seen.
When To Go Diving
Best from May to October, although winter can still be good on calm days. Water is usually around 20–30°C.
