All about Sombrero Reef dive site
Sombrero Reef in Marathon is one of the most splendid coral reefs in Florida. The huge lighthouse with eleven buoys mark the area of the dive site. Diving in Sombrero Reef is a charming adventure, as divers can explore numerous spur and grove formations, limestone formations, colorful fields of sea grass, sea flowers, sea fans, gorgonians, boulder, lettuce, brain and finger corals. Another attraction is “The Arch” - a coral bridge, which creates a large swim-through to dive in.

The abundance of marine life attracts explorer from across the globe. Divers can notice barracuda, snappers, groupers, stingrays and nurse sharks while scuba diving in Sombrero Reef.
When to go diving in Sombrero Reef
Diving in Sombrero Reef is preferable from May to October . The air temperatures are of 30-32C/86-89F and water averages are of 27-29C/80-84F. Approximate air and water temperatures from November to April are of 16-18C/60-64F and form a warm and dry season.
