Liveaboard diving in
Black rock
Black Rock is located in Kaanapali, just 10min north of Lahaina. This large lava rock extends about 15m/50ft above the ocean and drops to 10m/35ft depth. It can be a great drift dive around the point if currents are running. The site is popular among snorkelers and scuba divers, and particularly among cliff divers. This can also be a great site for night diving.
When To Go Diving
Diving is possible all year round. The average air temperature stays between 19C/66F-31C/88F, and average water temperature is around 23C/75F-30C/86F.
What to see
Divers can explore a wall and a diverse reef system. Marine life is abundant and various, divers may find corals, moray eels, a lot of turtles, eagle rays, lobsters, crabs, Spanish dancers, scorpion fish, white tip reef sharks and the occasional tako (octopus) patrolling the reef.
