Panglao is a small island located at the south western tip of Bohol Island. It is connected by two bridges to Bohol. The closest airport is in Tagbilaran that is located in 10 km from Panglao. Panglao is a relatively flat island without any significant mountains. There is a shallow reef platform with the depth of 5-6m/15-20ft which ends at deeper submarine cliffs, somewhere around 33-56m/100-170ft. This is a great place for snorkeling for novice as well as experienced divers and advanced divers. It is also a great place for underwater photography. The dive sites on Panglao Island include wall dives, caves, drift diving and some house reefs.

 

Most popular dive sites

Some of the sites that must be visited by every diver are Alona Beach Sanctuary, Heaven, Rudy's Rock, Black Forest. One of the popular diving areas on Panglao Island is in Doljo. This is a house reef with easy diving especially great for novices. On this wall dive divers will see lots of different kinds of hard corals. Another dive site is Snake Island located in Libaong. It is an underwater island. It's a popular dive site recommended for advanced divers. The depth here ranges from 9m/29ft to 30m/98ft and there is a lot of marine life to see, such as nudibranchs, moray eels and black and white banded sea snakes.
