About Trat Province

Trat is an eastern province in Thailand. It consists of 52 islands, which include such popular tourist’s destinations as Koh Chang and Koh Kood. The unique mix of cultures is an interesting peculiarity of the area, as Lao, Khmer, Chinese and Thai people blended into the one hospitable community. Trat is a perfect place for holidaymakers with a shoestring budget. It is easy to find cheap accommodation and meals. Beautiful noisy waterfalls, which break the silence of lush jungles, always attract nature-lovers. Such natural parks make Trat a nice spot for photos. Most of the islands have unspoiled and unexplored nature, which is perfect to admire wild sceneries. Tourists can either have a tranquil vacation, relaxing on white beaches, or enjoy active holidays, trying various outdoor activities. One of the most popular activities is diving. Trat Province offers excellent opportunities for diving with the abundance of marine life. Multiple dive sites are presented by coral reefs, boulders, drop-offs, ledges, swim-throughs and pinnacles. There are a lot of caves, with beautifully descending coral agglomerations, crevices and cleft to be explored by divers. Average depth in the area is 15-20m/49-65ft with mild currents. Dive sites are accessible either by boat, or from shore and advisable for divers of all levels.

 

When to go to Trat Province

The most advisable period for visiting Trat is from March to June, which is the hot season. The wet season runs from June to October. 

The average temperatures throughout a year are of 27-30C/80-86F.

Water temperatures are of 28-30C/82-86F. 

 

What to see
While scuba-diving in Trat divers can enjoy various marine creatures. Divers can encounter stingrays, moray eels, snappers, groupers, barracuda, parrotfish and angelfish. Apart from underwater species, divers can explore numerous wrecks in these waters.
