Blue Cave
The tiny island of Bisevo, situated 5km/3mi south-west of its neighboring island of Vis, became famous after discovery a phenomenal Blue Cave, also called Blue Grotto. Blue Cave is located on the east side of the island, and it is one of the natural beauty spots that surely shouldn't be missed. Blue Grotto was originally accessible by diving through an only underwater entrance. Later, an artificial entrance was built and it is large enough even for small boats. The best time to visit Blue Grotto is between 11a.m. and 12 noon, when the sunlight, passing through an underwater opening and reflecting back from the white bottom, illuminates the cave in bright aquamarine light. At the same time, the objects in the water have a silvery shimmer.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to visit Blue Grotto any time of the year. The high season is between May to September, however, in July and August Blue Grotto becomes overcrowded with tourists and diving is not allowed. The water temperature ranges from 14C/57F in January to 25C/77F in July and August.
What to see
Divers will be enchanted by the beautiful natural phenomenon of Blue Grotto and on their dive they will also see some interesting marine creatures, including scorpionfish, lobsters, octopus, and more.
