South Male Atoll

Declared a “Protected Marine Area”, Kudarah Thila is a great site, which enjoys many incoming currents. The pinnacle features 4 coral heads that enjoy soft and hard coral growth of all colours. When the current is not too strong, divers can swim around the entire perimeter of the pinnacle which is around 100m/328ft in diameter, but if there is current present, then divers will likely spend more time on the lee-side. Isolated outcrops of rock can be found on the west side, large, long cave at 20m/65ft on the most eastern side, a small canyon with many smaller fish on the north face. On the deeper more gentle slopes on the northern side, it is breathtaking to see large aggregations of seafans, all swaying as one when the currents are flowing. The site is recommended for advanced divers if the current is medium to strong, but can be perfect for open water divers when the current is mild. It will also be difficult to get to Kuda Rah out of season, because there won’t be liveaboards going there.
