Takat Malang
Takat Malang is a dive site located not far from Simon’s Reef with the same stunning collection of soft and hard corals. Divers will enjoy exploring the reef, consisting of series of canyons and large swim-throughs and will be fascinated by spectacular coral heads (Takat). There are about ten large beautifully sculpted coral Takats with excellent diversity of corals, including some huge gorgonians. Takat Malang also features a concentration of reef fish, including bigger reef species like parrotfish, angelfish and triggerfish. Takat Malang site offers an amazing multilevel dive, beginning with plateau at 15m/49ft and finishing at its deepest end of 35 m/114ft, where divers can see huge cuttlefish. Due to the deep depths and strong currents this dive only suitable for experience divers.
When To Go Diving
Diving opportunities at Takat Malang are great at any time of the year as the average water temperature is 28C/82F. The average depth is 20m/65ft and the maximum depth is 40m/131ft. Average visibility is 15-20m/49-65ft. Currents are influenced by phases of the moon and can vary from medium to strong.
What to see
Spectacular coral gardens with an amazing diversity of corals, including large gorgonians and a wide variety of reef fish. Also, divers have a pretty good chance to see sting rays and eagle rays.
