Liveaboard diving in
Lands End
Wreck
This dive site is unique because divers get a chance to dive in both the Sea of Cortes as well as the Pacific Ocean at the same time. The short walls along the rocks are full of small ledges, which create shelters for large eels, sea turtles, large schools of baracudas, butterflyfish, seahorses, stonefish, tunas, green jacks and baitfish. This is the best site for seeing different species of wrasse, nudibranch, parrotfish, angels and large green moray eels. The flat rock inside the cove is home to a small colony of California sea lions which dive and play with the divers. Pelagics such as whale sharks and mantas are also spotted in this area. A shipwreck is found Southeast of the rock at only 15m/50ft depth. Large schools of cow-nose rays and devil rays (small mantas) can be seen during the summer months. Maximum depth is around 22m/72ft. Diving at this location is great for beginners as well as advanced divers. However, this site is subject to weather conditions, as currents and surge can be strong.
When To Go Diving
The hurricane season in this area is pretty long and lasts from June to November, however divers still find plenty of opportunities to dive during these months as well as the rest of the year. The average water temperature in the winter stays around 23C/73F and in the summer around 26C/78F.
