Wreck
This dive site is also known as the S-57 Schnellboot. The German S 57 torpedo boat is one of the most well-known shipwrecks in the Adriatic. It lies off the north coast of the Pelješac Peninsula. One of the main attractions is the ship’s anti-aircraft gun, still intact and with a functional mount. Two torpedo openings are visible on the bow and the bridge is well preserved. The ship’s interior is also visible: the engine room and three engines. The wreck is a national protected site and can only be visited through an authorized dive center.
When To Go Diving
It is possible to dive S 57 year-round, with the most pleasant time during the summer months, when the air temperature is about 27C/80F and the water temperature averages 22-25C/71-77F.
What to see
In this dive site divers can see groupers, sea bass, conger eels, octopuses, forkbeards, rainbow wrasse, sea urchins, scorpionfish, white mullet and striped and white bream.
