Drvenik Cave
The Drvenik Cave site is located near the southern coast of the island of Drvenik. It is a cave sitting just at the sandy seabed, which means that divers should be careful how they move in order to avoid kicking up masses of sand into the water. The cave is small, 20m/66ft wide and 6m/19ft high. To dive comfortably, it is not recommended to enter the cave with more than 5 divers. Unless the divers kick up sand clouds in the water, the visibility is usually 25m/82m on average.
When To Go Diving
The best conditions for diving in this area are from June to August, with the warmest sea temperature of 25C/77F in July. During this time, the sea is usually not colder than 22C/72F, and rain is rare. The most humid season is from September to December.
What to see
In terms of the flora and fauna species that can be spotted at this site, the most interesting place is the outer walls of the cave, which are covered with various colorful, almost jewel-like sponges and algae, which serve as food for the settlers of this place. Among the settlers divers can spot species like octopi, scorpionfish, moray eels, and crayfish.
