About West Timor

West Timor is the western part of the island of Timor and part of the province of East Nusa Tenggara. Tourists favor West Timor for its rich culture, beautiful scenery and nature. West Timor is open for diving all year long and sites are available for divers of all levels of experience. Divers can choose from snorkeling, drift diving, cave diving and wreck diving. West Timor has a diverse marine life that includes pipefish, leaffish, lionfish, pegasus seamoths, nudibranchs, mandarin fish, blue spotted stingrays, many grouper species, angelfish, butterflyfish, sweetlips, pufferfish and wrasse. Bigger pelagics like white tip and black tip reef sharks also favor these waters. The underwater landscape is very diverse and consists of colorful reefs and walls carpeted with soft corals, gorgonian seafans and sponges. Among the variety of dive sites around West Timor the most popular are Cave city, Moore Reef, Oehani Cave and Crystal Cave. When to go to West Timor

Scuba diving in West Timor is possible year round, but the best diving conditions are from March to December. The average water temperature varies between 26-32C/79-90F with water visibility ranging on average from 12m/39ft to 30m/98ft. Currents can be very strong.
